Copyediting

If you only choose one editorial service for your manuscript, make it the copyedit. I believe it’s the best ‘bang for your buck’ approach to get a professional quality manuscript.

What is included in a copyedit?

I offer copyediting services for both fiction and non fiction manuscripts. This includes:

• A close line-by-line edit to remove any errors of spelling, grammar and punctuation, and amends to sentences to make the prose as sharp as possible while retaining your original voice.

• Checking facts, extracts, dates, places and names.

• Fixing any inconsistencies, both in the text (spellings, dates and times) and in the formatting (such as punctuation use).

• Formatting the manuscript so styling is consistent and ensuring it’s ready for self-publishing or typesetting.

I mark-up using tracked changes in Microsoft Word, allowing you to see exactly what has been amended. I also add comments where I have queries or notice bigger-picture issues (e.g. structural problems, pacing).
