Proofreading
A proofread is a crucial final check of your manuscript before publication. It is always obvious to me when a proofread has been skipped, and those remaining typos can be very off-putting to readers.
What is included in a proofread?
I offer proofreading services for both fiction and non-fiction manuscripts, and this includes:
A careful line-by-line read of your manuscript for any remaining errors of spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Removing any inconsistencies in punctuation use and formatting, such as heading styles.
Checking page numbers, table of contents entries, headers and footers, image captions and weblinks.
For non-fiction, checking that in-text citations and references/bibliography pages are correct and consistently formatted.
I mark-up using Adobe Acrobat Pro if working on a PDF, or tracked changes in Word.
